Entering into programmable state:
The instrument will work in the manual state after start-up. As soon as receiving the programmable
command from the computer, the instrument will enter into the programmable state and there is a symbol "p"
at the bottom left of the screen. At the same time, all keys will do not work and the instrument will work
according to the programmable commands from computer. To return to the manual state, send the return
command "LOCAL" from computer. The instrument will return to the manual state and all keys will resume to
work.
Command response:
After the instrument receives a series of programmable commands, the commands will be executed piece
by piece until the end symbol. And then send a response character string "Receive ok" to the computer,
meaning the correct receiving.
If meeting the character string besides the defaults, the instrument will recognize it as an error command.
And this command and the later command from it will not be executed. At the same time, a response
character string "Receive error" will be sent to the computer, meaning that the received command is wrong.
If meeting the query command "?CHA" or "?CHB", the instrument will not handle the character strings
following with the query command and send a response character string with the contents of the current
waveform, frequency and amplitude of the queried channel to the computer immediately.
No matter which case, the instrument will wait for the next programmable-command character string after
the response character string is received.
Key points of programming
When writing application program using programming commands, the following key points should be paid
attention.
Point 1:
Programming commands codes should be obeyed strictly including capital and small letters. A little mistake
will lead to error command.
Point 2:
The manual operation of the generator should be known. The writing order of programming commands is
the same as that of manual operation in the order of function command, option command, data command
and unit command. Impertinent writing order, or unmatched option and function will lead to the error result
although no any error information. For example, for the frequency of channel A, if it is written as 100 AFREQ
kHz, the order is wrong. Another example, for triangle of channel B, if it is written as CHA BWAVE 2No, the
option and the function are unmatched.
Point 3: According to the different physical variables, the generator gives different unit command. But
different unit commands displayed in the same key position can be used in mixing. For example, the
command AFREQ 120 Vpp looks unreasonable but it can be executed with correct result. But in order to
make the program be able to read, it is suggested to supply appropriate unit commands by the custom.
Point 4: Inquiring commands "?CHA" and "?CHB" should be arranged at the last group. In case that the
inquiring command is cancelled by the latter commands, the latter commands will not be executed after the
two inquiring commands. Return-to-local command is arranged in last. As the generator has returned to
local, the latter commands will not be executed. When programming-control commands are sent again, the
generator will be able to re-enter the programming state and re-execute commands. Other commands
should be in the front of the present three commands.
