10. Using the model boat

a) Inserting the battery
In order to insert the battery, first remove the upper hull shell by
turning the rear latch by 90°. Then remove the inner hull shell by
turning the four latches also by 90°.
The battery is strapped inside the battery compartment with the
Velcro straps to ensure that it stays in place even when the boat
is moving in harsh conditions. See also fig. 7 in the next section.
Ensure that the battery is securely in place. If the cen-
tre of gravity changes when the model boat is moving,
the boat may capsize or become submerged under
water!
The battery connection cables must not come into
contact with the rotating parts in the motor and shaft.
Secure the cables in place using a cable tie.
b) Connecting the battery
Place the boat on a suitable object (e.g. the included boat
stand) so that the propeller can spin freely.
Insert the battery into the designated holder and secure
it in place using the Velcro straps. Connect the battery to
the speed controller. Ensure that the cables cannot get
caught in the motor. The LED in the receiver will start to
flash when the battery is connected.
On the transmitter, set the trim for the steering wheel
("left/right") to the neutral position. Leave the speed lever
in the neutral position and switch on the transmitter.
The red "Power" LED will go on and the green "Frequen-
cy" LED will start to flash. The transmitter and receiver
are now pairing. After a connection has been established,
the receiver LED and the green "Frequency" LED on the
transmitter will stay constant. The model boat is now
ready for use and you can control the motor and rudder
using the transmitter.
During the pairing process, the transmitter and model boat should be within 1 meter of each other. Avoid
sources of interference (e.g. other 2.4 GHz transmitters) in the vicinity of the transmitter and model boat,
otherwise the pairing may not succeed. If a connection cannot be established, the LED on the receiver will
flash, and the motor/rudder will not respond to the transmitter. If this occurs, turn off the transmitter, and
then turn it back on after a few seconds to restart the pairing process. You may need to move to another
location
