10. Using the model ship

a) Connecting the battery
Remove the hull from the top of the boat. Place the boat on a suita-
ble object (e.g. the boat stand) so that the propeller can spin freely.
Mount the boat battery (A) opposite to the receiver and press it
onto the adhesive strap. The battery must be in front of the plastic
bracket to prevent it from rubbing against the drive shaft.
Insert the connector on the battery into the socket on the receiver/
speed controller. Ensure that the connector is inserted in the cor-
rect orientation and that the cables cannot get caught in the motor.
The LED on the receiver will start to flash when the battery is con-
nected.
Leave the speed throttle in the neutral position. Switch on the re-
mote control.
The red LED indicator on the remote control will flash with a quick rhythm to indicate that the remote control is pairing
with the receiver. After a connection has been established, the receiver LED and the red LED indicator on the remote
control will stay constant. The model boat is now ready for use and you can control the motor and rudder using the
remote control.
During the pairing process, the remote control and model should be within 1 m of one another. Switch off sources of
interference (e.g. other 2.4 GHz remote controls), otherwise the remote control may not be able to connect to the re-
ceiver. If a connection cannot be established, the LED on the receiver will flash, and the motor/rudder will not respond
to the remote control. If this occurs, turn off the remote control, and then turn it back on after a few seconds to restart
the pairing process. You may need to move to another location.
b) Testing the control functions
The boat is ready for use once you have paired the remote control with the receiver (see section 10. a). The motor
should not be switched on or humming at this point. If the motor turns on, disconnect the battery from the boat and
switch off the remote control. Check that the throttle lever on the remote control is in the neutral position, and then
reconnect the model boat to the remote control.
Warning!
The propeller is very sharp and may cause injuries and/or damage to property during handling, use, opera-
tion or when the propeller is replaced.
Check the position of the rudder. The rudder must be in the central position when the steering wheel on the remote
control and the trim control are in the neutral position.
If this is not the case, use the remote control to trim the rudder (see section 9). If the trim on the remote control is
insufficient, check that the steering wheel and trim are in the neutral position, and then adjust the deflection by bending
the steering linkage (e.g. with a pair of pliers).
Metal screw connections must be secured with lock nuts or a drop of thread-locking fluid to prevent them
from becoming loose.
