A square can have as many candidates as you like;
whenever you point to it, its candidates are displayed in the
" boxes" . To delete a candidate, simply point to its box.
Setting up a puzzle (e.g. from a magazine): After selecting
Sudoku from the menu, select Level 0. Now enter each
number in the normal way – by touching the square, then the
corresponding number on the right.
The three " boxes" in the middle above the grid indicate
that you are in " set up" mode. When the puzzle is ready,
touch the
again to confirm. The numbers you entered will now be
treated as " given" (i.e. unalterable), and you can begin
solving the puzzle.

OTHER PUZZLES

Scoring: In activities other than Sudoku, " Pairs" and
" Labyrinth" , the computer gives you a score for a batch of 5
puzzles. When you give your answer to one puzzle in the
batch, the next puzzle follows on automatically.
The score is displayed in the same format as in Sudoku (see
§ 3.3), except that the best score does not " flash" .
Best scores: If you touch the
on view, this displays your highest scores for the activities
other than Sudoku.
In this example, 63 is your
best score so far for
activity number 6, i.e.
" Pairs" (see the list under " Selecting an Activity" ).
Touch any part of the screen to cancel this display.
Timing: You are allotted a maximum time per puzzle. The
diminishing row of " boxes" at the top of the screen shows
