3. Important information
WARNING
Fire/explosion hazard
• Do not use LPG operation on the heating system while refuelling or when filling a fixed LPG tank.
• Do not use any type of open flame when checking for gas leaks.
• Use genuine Alde parts only.
• LPG tanks must be filled by a qualified gas supplier only.
• Use with LPG only.
WARNING
Close the main LPG valve during the following circumstances:
• When leakage in the LPG system is suspected.
• When the vehicle is not intended to be used.
• Depending on national legislation the main LPG tap shall be closed when the vehicle is in traffic.
3.1 Using the heating system
• Always replace the air cushion in the hot water tank after 10 days of use. This is done by opening
the safety/drain valve on the heating system for a few seconds.
• Always turn off the main isolating switch (12 V) for the heating system when the vehicle is not in use.
• The LPG burner must not be in operation while refuelling the vehicle or when filling a fixed LPG tank.
3.2 Winter and degrees below zero
WARNING
Asphyxiation hazard
For proper and safe combustion the gas burner in the heating system must have sufficient air intake.
Insufficient air intake can cause build-up of carbon monoxide, which provides asphyxiation hazard. The
inlet air to the gas burner enters through the flue, which normally is installed close to the boiler on the
side of the vehicle. While camping during winter, make sure the flue is kept clear from ice and snow.
Do not start the heating system on LPG operation until the flue is completely free of ice and snow.
NOTICE
Fresh water in the hot water tank shall always be drained at risk of frost or if the vehicle is not being
used, or you will risk the boiler to freeze. The warranty does not cover frost damage. Reduce the risk
of freezing by installing a frost control (art. no. 3010 430/431).
• When camping during winter make sure the flue and exhaust air valves are kept free from ice and
snow. For the roof flue there is a flue extension (art. no. 3000 320). For the wall flue there is a con-
densate spout (art. no. 3010 697). Notice that flue extension and condensate spout may not be used
when the vehicle is in traffic.
3.3 Glycol fluid in the heating system
• Never allow the heating system to stand empty of glycol fluid.
• Always maintain the proper level of glycol fluid in the heating system.
• The glycol fluid shall be changed every other year, or after recommendation from supplier, because
properties such as corrosion protection deteriorate over time. If the glycol fluid is not changed ac-
cording to the right interval frost damage, corrosion, bacterial growth and/or overheating are risked.
