• A suitable hole in the insert sleeve must have a larger diameter than the probe of the test
specimen:
Temperatures up to approx. 140°C, all sensor diameters:
Temperatures up to approx. 650°C, sensor diam. 4.5 to 8 mm: approx. 0.5 mm larger
Temperatures up to approx. 650°C, sensor diam. 8.0 to 12 mm: approx. 0.7 mm larger
Temperatures up to approx. 650°C, sensor diam. 12 to 17 mm: approx. 1 mm larger
• If these values cannot be adhered to, use a different insert sleeve as shown in Figure 1.
• The test specimen must be able to be inserted into the hole without any fricon.
• Insert sleeves may only be replaced when the metal block is at ambient temperature.
• Only use the supplied removal tool (tweezers).
• Insert the probe of the test specimen into the hole up to the boom (at the very boom), see
Figure 3 (next page). This is the only way to ensure the best possible stability and temperature
uniformity.
• If you do not want to compare the test specimen with the temperature display of the calibrator
but with an external reference thermometer (e.g.
both probes (test item and reference) are immersed to the same depth in the hole and that they
are as close as possible to each other, see Figure 2.
• If the probe of the test specimen is too short to be immersed to the boom of the insert sleeve,
the reference probe must be posioned at the same immersion depth.
