TROUBLESHOOTING
incorrect operations are ofteni mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the
points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used. If the
trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your dealer to carry
out repair work.

No sound from speakers.

e Disc has a bad scratch or warp.
@ Antenna is not connected.
e Antenna is in poor position.
e Interference from nearby fluorescent light,
hair dryer, or other electrical appliance.
e@ The MONO indicator in the display window
on the receiver lights up.
e Plug power cord into wall socket correctly.
e Connectcords correctly referring to CONNECTIONS
e Select correct function.
e Plug in the power cord.
e Use a cassette that can be recorded on, or apply
adhesive tape over the tab holes.
e Clean heads (refer to [P.[94)).
@ Turnon DOLBY NR system for tapes recorded with
DOLBY NR.
e Change with a tape having at least 4-seconds
unrecorded interval between two songs.
e First put the tape deck in play mode then press the
fast forward or rewind button:
e Load a disc correctly with the label side (printed
side) UP.
@ Clean the disc (refer to (P_Je2}),
e Replace the disc (refer to [P.|62| ).
e Connect the antenna correctly.
e Change the antenna position.
e Stop using device causing interference

e Press MONO so that the MONO indicator goes art

Timer does not work.
e Current time is not set.
e Set current time.
Remote control does not
work.
e Batteries are run down.
e A fluorescent light is shining on the remote
sensor window.
e Replace with new batteries.

Abnormal functioning of this unit may be caused by static electricity or other external interference. To restore normal operation, turn the powe off
and then on again, or unplug the AC power cord and then plug it in again.
