2.1 Safety information

Dangerous contact voltages
After removing the housing or guard, or after opening the device, certain parts of these devices/systems
that can carry dangerous voltage are accessible. Therefore, only suitably qualified personnel may work
on this device in order to avoid endangering human life or damage to the device. This personnel must
be thoroughly familiar with all the safety hazards and maintenance measures defined in these operating
instructions.
DANGER
Danger to life from electrical voltage
If there is a possibility of a risk of injury from the damage, the device may not resume operation until
the the fault is eliminated! Damaged power cords may not be used and must be replaced immediately.
The device must be immediately shut down and repaired whenever any damage to the mechanical or
electrical components is detected.
Specifically, damaged cables may never continue to be used, even if they are located inside the device.
During maintenance work, visual inspection should be carried out on damaged components/cables etc.
and these parts replaced when necessary.
WARNING
Risk of burns from hot parts and hot lines
Risk of burns from hot components (190°C) after removing the housing cover of the device! Before
opening the housing cover, the device should be able to cool down. If this is not possible, you must take
high temperatures into consideration.
There is a risk of burns when loosening the gas connections of heated sample lines!

Danger to life from noxious exhaust gases and flammable gases
While performing maintenance and repair work, the connection (electrical and mechanical) to the ex-
haust measuring system must be disconnected in order to avoid hazards caused by unsupervised con-

nection and release of engine exhaust gas, Cal-gas (calibration gas), etc.
If leakage occurs, this could cause gas (e.g. CO, NOx) to exit the device.
The device may not be opened or disassembled as long as exhaust gas is present at the sample gas input
of the device.
Therefore, make sure that the extraction system works and the relevant safety devices (gas sensors, etc.)
of the test bench are operating.
