Initial setup

The sensor tube system must be blown out and tested for leaks prior to initial setup
(page 44). Furthermore, it should be ensured that any remote alarms (external alarms) are
blocked or deactivated at the fire panel before the ADW supply is switched on.
8.1

Program selection switch

The program selection switch is located directly on the PC board of the
ADW 511A. The 16 steps of the program selection switch can be set by
turning the switch in either direction.
Response sensitivity is adjusted with positions 1 to 9. Position 0 starts the
hard reset (see page 52) during initial device setup.
Positions A - F are used to perform various tests (see page 53).

Switch positions 8 and 9 may only be set after consulting the manufacturer. These values are
classified in accordance with EN54 and can only be freely programmed via a PC.
It is also only possible to reset basic setting with a PC.

The program selection switch should be set to position 2 or 3 (high sensitivity) if the ADW
511A is used in environments where very low temperature fluctuations are expected. This is
the case, for example, in closed underground garages or in the chemicals industry. A medium
sensitivity level should be selected for environments where occasional temperature fluctua-
tions are expected; i.e. position 1 inside road tunnels with low traffic volume or in open
underground garages, for example; position 5, 6 or 7 for object protection with higher ambi-
ent temperatures.
Positions 4, 8 and 9 represent low-sensitivity levels and should be selected for environments
where increased temperature fluctuations are expected, e.g. at road tunnel portals, in road
tunnels with high traffic volumes, railroad tunnels or for object protection in heavy industry.
