Sensor tube installation

Only one sensor tube can be connected to each detection box.
The sensor tube must be installed in accordance with the following guidelines:

– For installation in tunnels see planning notes on page 36.
– The sensor tube should not be installed adjacent to, below or above strip lighting. If
this is unavoidable, make sure a minimum distance of 0.5 m is adhered to.
– When installing the sensor tube, make sure the lateral viewing angle is not
obstructed. See image on left:

– Deviations from the above guidelines are permissible in order to circumvent obstruc-
tions in the ceiling construction (openings, beams etc.).
When installing in tunnels, make sure that the changes in direction necessary to cir-
cumvent obstacles are at angles of 45°.
Tube sections will require mechanical protection if directional changes are only pos-
sible at an angle of 90°.
– The maximum permissible sensor tube lengths (incl. the value up to the ceiling)
specified on page 36 must be adhered to.
– It can be installed to the underside of cable ducts as long as the distance to the ceil-
ing is not greater than 0.5 m.
– At tunnel entrance portals, a distance of 25 m must be maintained between the sen-
sor tube end and the portal.
– Secure the sensor tube with rust-proof screws only.
It is attached directly to the ceiling using plastic sliding brackets.
– The sensor tube must be fixed in place using metal pipe clips when used in areas
with higher ambient temperatures.
The recommended distance between each clip is 0.8 m.
– The sensor tube and pipe clips must be installed in a straight line to allow for longi-
tudinal pipe expansion due to fluctuations in temperature.
– Do not undercut the minimum bending radius of 5 cm for the copper sensor tube or
the plastic hose.
