Independently of the interface version (RS232 or RS485), each WE2108 has a unit address
between 0 and 31. This can be set with the ADR command. By reference to the address the
control computer can determine whether a WE2108 should execute commands or not.

„Broadcast command"
After this command every WE2108 executes the following commands, independently of the
set address (the interface setting at WE2108 and control computer must be the same). How-
ever, no answer is output, the transmission line remains at idle level.

In point−to−point operation (control computer and one WE2108, factory setting), only one
further Select command is required apart from S98. S31 activates the WE2108 so that all
commands are executed and answers output.

Commands

With operation through RS232 interface, only one unit is connected to the control com-
puter as a rule. Since all computer commands are then intended for this WE2108, the
use of the address commands is not required. The commands S98 and S31 are useful
for some applications.
Each unit is set to address 31 ex works and performs the received commands.
If a unit does not react, it is possibly deactivated by preceding commands. It can then be
addressed again with the method described in Section 8.2.3 .
The reception buffer must be in a defined state for evaluating the S31 (or S...) command.
After a baud rate change or switching on the computer interface, a single end character
(LF or ;) should therefore be transmitted.

If an answer still stands in the output buffer of the WE2108, it is output after the S31
command.
If the WE2108 is not set to address 31, commands are neither executed nor answered
after S31.
