b) Charge a rechargeable battery without balancer connection
(„CHARGE")
You may of course use the charging program „CHARGE" to charge multi-cell
lithium rechargeable batteries with a balancer connection.
But in this mode, the voltage of individual cells will not be balanced, which may
result in one or more cells overcharging. This poses a risk of fire and explosion!
For this reason, you should always use the charging program „BALANCE" to
charge multi-cell lithium rechargeable batteries with a balancer connection.
• As described in chapter 13 a), set the rechargeable
battery type (LiPo, LiIon or LiFe) and select the
charging program „CHARGE".
The rechargeable battery type appears at the upper left of the display, the charging program
to its right.
The value at the bottom left shows the currently set charging current, the value at the bottom
right the voltage or the cell count of the rechargeable battery pack (in our example, a 3-cell
LiPo rechargeable battery pack, 3 x 3.7 = 11.1 V).
Move the control pad upward „8" or downward „2" to select a different charging
program.
Move the control pad to the left „4" to return to the main menu.
• Move the control pad to the right „6" to change the values for the charging current and cell
count. The charging current starts flashing.
• Move the control pad upward „8" or downward „2" to set the charging current.
The maximum possible charging current depends on the rechargeable battery type,
capacity and cell count. Please review the information provided by the rechargeable
battery manufacturer and the chapter „Technical Data" at the end of this user manual as
well as chapter 9.
• Move the control pad to the right „6" — the cell count starts flashing.
• Move the control pad upward „8" or downward „2" to set the cell count. Depending on
the rechargeable battery type, the correct nominal voltage will be calculated and displayed
automatically (see chapter 9).
Move the control pad to the right again — the display stops flashing. Follow the above
steps to change the charging current or cell count, as desired.
