Inspection and
maintenance
This smoke alarm device with radio link
tests its reliable functioning automatically
and completely once a minute.
The device also automatically regulates
the sensitivity of its detection electronics
depending on the ambient influences.
Please keep in mind that the smoke inlets
around the smoke alarm's edge are never
covered by dust, dirt, colour or adhesive
tape or walls, furniture or other objects
do not obstruct them.
In order to ensure that the device is
ready for operation, press the test/stop
button (Illus. 1 point d) regularly (maybe
once a month) to let out a test alarm.
Ensure that the device is undamaged and
is firmly positioned and that the smoke
inlets (Illus. 1 point c) are completely free
from foreign particles.

If the acoustic signal is not sent out in
the test alarm, the device needs to be
replaced.
Battery fault/
Contamination message
If the energy reserve of the smoke alarm
device with radio link is broken or the
detection electronics are so dirty that
further regulation is not possible, the
device will report these conditions in
time (see „Alarm and message tones")
The device can still send out its warnings
for max. 60 days reliably and needs to be
replaced before these 60 days are over!
Possible causes for alarm
without a fire
Some rooms have more dust than the
others. A bedroom is often such a room
because often fluffy carpets, clothing,
bed-covers and pillows are handled here.
This can cause dust to enter the measu-
rement system of the device and cause
error or an alarm.
Pollen, construction dust, scrapings or
fine dust has directly entered the device,
thereby causing an error or alarm.
One or more very small insects or other
tiny organisms have passed through the
insect-protection barriers and have cau-
sed an error or alarm.
Regular and careful cleaning of the de-
vice, for instance with a duster, can re-
move such contamination of the measu-
rement system and prevent undesirable
errors and alarms.
