Setting up a collective
radio group
For special applications, it can be practi-
cal to set up a collective radio group (e.g.
in the stairwell of an apartment house).
A collective radio group is first a normal
radio group. However, as soon as one
or more radio groups (e.g. residence)
is connected with a specific radio group
(e.g. stairwell), it then becomes a collec-
tive radio group.
All smoke alarm devices with radio links
connected to a radio group give out a
loud alarm signal if at least one smoke
alarm device with radio link in the radio
group (e.g. residence) identifies fire-rela-
ted smoke or temperatures. This alarm is
released with a measured delay (60 se-
conds) by all smoke alarm devices with
radio links of a collective radio group
(e.g. stairwell) connected with this radio
group initiating the alarm.
en
Thereafter, for instance, an alarm sent
out by the smoke alarm devices with ra-
dio links of a radio group in a residence
will also be sent out by all smoke alarm
devices with radio links of a collective
radio group installed, for instance in the
stairwell, if the radio group (residence) s
connected to the radio group (stairwell)
and the radio group (stairwell) is assi-
gned as collective radio group.
As explained earlier, please note that
the alarm is forwarded from a radio
group (residence) to the collective radio
group (stairwell) and is sounded out as
an alarm signal there as well.
This alarm forwarding function is laid
exclusively in the direction of the radio
group (e.g. residence) to the collective
radio group (e.g. stairwell).
There is no alarm forwarding from a
collective radio group (stairwell) to one
or more radio groups connected with a
collective radio group (residence).
If you have a need for specific, complex
and, if required, cascading connection
functions regarding the alarm forwarding
of smoke alarm devices with radio links,
please contact www.pyrexx.com, the
manufacturer of this smoke alarm device
with radio link.
How to assign a radio group as a col-
lective radio group has been described
in this section.
IMPORTANT:
A radio group cannot be connected to a
collective radio group and then also with
another (normal) radio group.
As soon as several radio groups (e.g.
residence) are connected to a specific
radio group (e.g. stairwell), the specific
radio group (e.g. stairwell) is a collective
radio group. Up to 14 radio groups can
be connected to a collective radio group.
The following example uses an apart-
ment house comprising for residences
and a stairwell to explain the application
of the collective radio group and the set-
ting up and functionality:
1. In all five radio groups will be cre-
ated in this example according to the
instructions given in the sections given
above. A radio group per residence (in
this example - four radio groups) and
another radio group for the stairwell
will be created.
