8. Get started

You are strongly advised to sequentially follow all subchapters of this chapter to get weather
station and sensor(s) ready for operation.
Once you have worked through this chapter continue with chapter '10. Operation' on page 52
to learn about operating the weather station.

a) Install batteries into weather station

1. Lift the battery cover of the battery compartment (B2) up.
2. Insert 4 AAA batteries into the battery compartment. Make sure to observe the polarity
indications in the battery compartment.
- The weather station emits an audible startup signal.
- DCF lights up in the display for approx. 3 seconds, which indicates the start of the DCF
signal search. Observe section 'a) DCF – Atomic clock' on page 54 to learn about the
DCF clock and signal reception.
3. Close the battery cover. Make sure it locks.

b) Connect power supply (optional)

The weather station can be powered by a suitable power adapter (not supplied). When you
select a power adapter, make sure it matches the required specifications listed in chapter '21.
Technical data' on page 66.
Connect the power supply as follows:
1. Connect the jack to the power adapter socket (B4).
2. Connect the power adapter to a suitable mains outlet.
3. The display shows AC ON for a short time.
When you disconnect the power adapter the display shows AC OFF for a short time.

You can leave the batteries in the battery compartment for backup purposes, in case
the mains power supply is interrupted.
