10. Basics of the FS20 address system

To allow parallel operation of several FS20 components (this includes proximity
switch FS20 SN), radio transmission has be secured using extensive encoding.
The encoding consists of a house code and an address. The house code helps to differentiate
between multiple FS20 systems operated simultaneously. Your neighbour could be using the
same type of wireless switching system without the two systems interfering with each other
(systems must use different house codes).
The house code consists of 8 digits. Each digit can be a number from 1 to 4 which amounts
to 48 (= 65536) possible house codes. Thus it is very improbable that your neighbour is using
the same house code (unless very "simple" house codes are used).
The second part of the encoding is the so-called address. Every address is a four-digit number
made up of two of the following 16 numbers: 11, 12, 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 24, 31, 32, 33, 34, 41,
42, 43, 44
Example: Address 11 22
This amounts to a total of 256 different addresses (16*16 = 256). The addresses are divided
into 4 address types (available number in brackets):
• Single addresses (225)
• Function group addresses (15)
• Local master addresses (15)
• Global master addresses (1)
Every address consists of two parts. The first part is the address group, the second part is the
sub-address.
Example: Address 11 22 = address group 11, sub-address 22
The number 44 is special. See the table on the next page.
