The wheelchair is designed as a modular component system. This means that certain acces-
sories can be adapted to your wheelchair. We recommend using a seat cushion at all times.
The seat upholstery of the wheelchair of the Start series has a loop texture so that seat cush-
ions can be attached with hook and loop connection. All seat cushions listed on the order form
have the required hook texture.
Furthermore, we will present you a selection of our variants and accessories which improve the
use and comfort of your wheelchair.
5.1 Anti-tipper (Fig 17)
WARNING
Risk of falling as a result of incorrectly set anti-tipper. The anti-tipper wheel must at least completely
extend from the rear wheel to the back. The space between the floor and lower edge of the anti-tipper
wheels must not exceed 5 cm.
After making adjustments, the anti-tipper must snap in place in the new position with an audible click.
CAUTION
Risk of tipping. Never drive over obstacles (steps and kerbs) at a slant angle. Always approach ob-
stacles straightly (at an angle of 90°).
The anti-tipper allows the wheelchair user to safely overcome thresholds and dropped kerbs
without the help of an attendant. It prevents the wheelchair from tipping too far backward.
The anti-tipper can be adjusted in length without the need for tools, depending upon the seat
height and seat angle (Fig. 17, item A).
Mounting of the anti-tipper is strongly recommended for untrained wheelchair users as well as
when extreme adjustments have been made to the rear wheel.
5.1.1 Using the Anti-tipper
a) Negotiating thresholds / dropped kerbs
When ascending an obstacle, the anti-tipper wheels hit the ground and prevent the wheelchair
from tipping over to the rear.
b) Negotiating steps / undropped kerbs
WARNING
Risk of falling. Please note that an attendant is required to assist with negotiating steps and undropped
kerbs.
Before tilting the wheelchair in order to get over undropped kerbs or steps, the attendant must
disengage the anti-tipper by rotating it to an upwards position. This prevents the anti-tipper from
getting damaged.
To disengage the anti-tipper, press the spring button of the tripod spring and turn up the anti-
tipper by 180° (Fig. 17, item B) until it locks in place.
Now the wheelchair can be moved over the obstacle forwards/backwards.
