8. Preparations

The model ship „Bait Boat" is delivered ready for operation. Only a few steps, such as installation of the receiver
system, are required for commissioning.
Before completing the model or taking it into operation, read each section carefully. The construction stages
are almost always illustrated for better understanding.
Please note that the numbers in the text always refer to the components in the illustration to the right.
Models of this category are, however, usually assembled according to the user's own wishes and ideas.
Only carry out the steps described in the different sections if you have completely understood the procedure
and know exactly what to observe.
a) Installation and Connection of the Steering Servo
Water is much harder than air. Therefore, ship models require steering servos with a much higher actuating
power as compared to boat size than plane models would. See our catalogues at www.conrad.com for tried
and tested accessories.
• The adjacent figure shows the opened feed flap
with the steering servo (1), the installation site for
the servo for actuation of the feed flap (2) and the
water inlet of the water cooling (5).
• Remove the hull deck and lift the feed flap.
• Connect the steering servo (1) to channel 1 of the
receiver.
Start the remote control. The receiver system is
supplied by the receiver battery (or battery box)
from the remote control's accessories. For this,
observe the operating instructions for the remote
control system.
• Set the steering and the associated trimming to the neutral position at the activated transmitter. Attach the linkage to
the rudder linkage lever (3) with the „Z". The „Z" of the thrust rod also must be threaded into the rudder horn of the
servo (4). Attach the rudder horn (4) onto the servo sot hat the rudder horn is aligned precisely at a 90° angle to the
longitudinal direction of the servo in the neutral position (see figure 1). Secure the rudder horn at the servo output
with the central screw.
• Now attach the steering servo in the holder with the accessories of the servo delivery as shown in figure 1. Check the
function of the steering servo. With servo in the neutral position, the rudder must be in the neutral position as well. If
this is not the case, and if you cannot balance this out by the transmitter's trimming, you need to loosen the hexagon
socket screw of the rudder lever (3) and put the rudder in the neutral position.
• Now attach the steering servo in the holder of the RC box with the accessories of the servo delivery.
