15 Cleaning
If the lawn mower is to be stored for longer
than 3 months, also observe the following:
► Run the fuel tank empty.
► Have the fuel tank cleaned by a STIHL spe‐
cialist dealer.
► Change the engine oil as described in the
engine instruction manual.
► Unscrew the spark plug and fill 3 ml of
engine oil into the engine through the spark
plug opening.
► Pull out and return the starter handle a num‐
ber of times.
WARNING
■ Sparks may escape if the starter handle is
pulled out while the spark plug socket is
detached. Sparks can ignite escaping petrol
fumes and cause fires and explosions. This
may result in serious or fatal injury to people
and damage to property.
► Keep the spark plug socket away from the
spark plug opening.
► Screw in the spark plug and tighten
firmly.

15.1
Standing the lawn mower
upright
► Run the fuel tank empty.
The engine stops.
► Pull off the spark plug boot.
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.
► Detach the starter grip from the starter cable
guide.
► Close the discharge flap,
► Set it to the highest cutting height,
► Firmly hold the handlebar (1) and open the
quick-clamping devices (2).
► Move the handlebar (2) backward.
► Position two wooden supports (3) with a thick‐
ness of a (7-8 cm) behind the lawn mower.
► Lift the lawn mower by the wheel fork (4) and
place it on the wooden supports (3).
The lawn mower is stable and can be cleaned.

Cleaning the Lawn Mower
► Stop the engine.
► Allow the lawn mower to cool down.
► Detach the spark plug socket.
► Clean the lawn mower with a damp cloth.
► Clean the ventilation slots with a paintbrush.
► Upend the lawn mower.
► Clean the area around the blade and the blade
with a stick, a soft brush or a damp cloth.
► Connect the spark plug socket.
NOTICE
■ Using a high-pressure cleaner or a water jet
for cleaning can damage the machine.
► Do not clean the machine with a high-pres‐
sure cleaner or a water jet.

16.1
Maintenance Intervals
Maintenance intervals are dependent on the
ambient conditions and the working conditions.
STIHL recommends the following maintenance
intervals:
Engine
► Maintain the engine as described in the engine
instruction manual.
Lawn mower
► Have the lawn mower inspected annually by a
STIHL specialist dealer.

Blade
16.2.1
Removing the blade
► Shut off the engine.
► Pull off the spark plug boot.
► Stand the lawn mower upright,
► Block the blade (1) with a piece of wood (2).
► Take out the screw (3) and remove it with the
washer (4).
► Remove the cutting blade (1).
