5 Preparing the Lawn Mower for Operation
► Maintain the blade as described in this
instruction manual.
■ The user may cut themselves on sharp cutting
edges during blade cleaning, maintenance or
repair. This may result in injury to the user.
► Wear protective gloves made from resistant
material.
■ The blade may become hot during sharpening.
This may result in the user burning them‐
selves.
► Wait until the blade has cooled down.
► Wear protective gloves made from resistant
material.

Preparing the lawn mower for
operation
The following steps must be performed before
commencing work:
► Remove the packaging material and transport
locks.
► Ensure that the following components are in a
safe condition:
– Lawn mower,
– Blades,

► Clean the lawn mower,
► Check the blade,
► Attach the handlebar,
► Fill with engine oil,
► Fold open the handlebar,
► Refuel the lawn mower,
► Set the cutting height,
► Check the controls,
► If you cannot carry out these steps: Do not use
the lawn mower and instead consult a STIHL
authorized dealer.

Assembling the Lawn

6.1
Attaching the handlebar
► Shut off the engine.
► Pull off the spark plug boot.
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.

► Hold the upper handlebar (1) against the lower
handlebar (2) so that the holes align.
► Push the screws (3) through the holes (4) from
the inside to the outside.
► Place the quick release clamps (5) onto the
screws (3) and screw them in.
► Fold up the quick release clamp (5).
► Repeat the same steps on the other side.
► Plug the cable clip (7) onto the upper handle‐
bar (1) so the distance (a) is 30 cm.
► Place the cable (8) into the cable clip (7).
► Close the tab (9) and allow it to engage.
► Repeat the same steps on the other side.
► Press the control bar (10) against the handle‐
bar (11) and keep it pressed.
► Pull the starter grip (12) slowly in the direction
of the Bowden cable guide (13).
