Preparation (COMpact 5000R)

This section describes the preparations required before installing and commissioning the
device. In addition, information is provided on how to mount the casing in a rack and how to
ground it, as well as how to open the casing and how to install modules on the PBX (not
included in the delivery).
In addition, information is given on how to close the casing again after installation work has
been completed.

Rack Mounting of the PBX

Requirements
– Tools and material:
– Connections in the immediate vicinity of the installation site:
Warning: Liquid entering the casing can cause life-threatening electric
shocks or damage/destroy the PBX.
Caution: Overheating can damage or destroy the system.
Important: Mechanical loads and electro-magnetic fields can impair PBX
operation.

Freely accessible 230 V Schuko socket
Wall socket or NT provided by the network provider; if the wall socket/NT
is relatively far away from the PBX, permanent cabling must first be laid
between the devices
Grounding conductor (potential compensation bar of the house installa-
tion or protective earth conductor)
Only operate the device in closed, dry rooms.
Note the ambient temperature values indicated in the technical data.
Make sure that heat produced by the device can be adequately vented
into the environment. Do not install the system in a cabinet without ade-
quate air circulation.
Never cover the air vents of the casing.
Avoid mechanical loads (e. g. vibrations).
Avoid proximity to devices that generate electro-magnetic fields or react
sensitively to them (e. g. radio receivers, private mobile radio systems,
amateur radio sets, mobile phones, DECT systems, or similar).
Protect the PBX from soiling, dust, and condensation.
