13 Operating the Lawn Mower
► If the control bar for self-propulsion is stiff or
does not spring back into the initial position:
do not use the lawn mower and consult a
STIHL specialist dealer.
The control bar for self-propulsion is defective.
Activating the Blade
► Insert batteries.
► Switch the lawn mower on.
► Within three seconds, pull control bar for mow‐
ing with the left hand fully in the direction of
handlebar and hold so the thumb encloses
handlebar.
The blade rotates.
► Release the control bar for mowing.
The blade stops turning after a short time.
► If the blade continues to turn: remove the bat‐
teries and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The lawn mower is defective.
Engaging self-propulsion
► Insert batteries.
► Switch the lawn mower on.
► Setting the self-propulsion speed.
► Push the control bar for self-propulsion in the
direction of the handlebar.
The lawn mower starts moving.
► Release the control bar for self-propulsion.
The lawn mower comes to a standstill.
► If the lawn mower continues moving: remove
the batteries and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The lawn mower is defective.
12.2
Checking the Blade
► Switch off the lawn mower and remove the
batteries.
► Upend the lawn mower,
► Measure the following:
– Thickness a
– Width b
– Sharpening angle c
► If the minimum thickness or minimum width is
fallen below: replace the blade,
► If the sharpening angle is not correct: sharpen
the blade,

► If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL special‐

Testing the Battery
► Press button on battery.
The LEDs glow or flash.
► If the LEDs do not glow or flash: Do not use
the battery and contact your STIHL servicing
dealer.
There is a malfunction in the battery.

Holding and Guiding the Lawn
Mower
► Hold the handlebar with both hands so the
thumbs enclose the handlebar.
13.2
Setting the cutting height
6 cutting heights can be set on each wheel:
– 25 mm = Position 1
– 40 mm = Position 2
– 55 mm = Position 3
– 70 mm = Position 4
– 80 mm = Position 5
– 100 mm = position 6
Setting the cutting height
WARNING
■ When setting a lower cutting height, the total
weight rests on the last wheel.
► Carefully adjust the cutting height.
