12.3 Alarms
12.3.1 Alarm hysteresis
The hysteresis function defines an interval where a triggered
relay maintains its status until the gas concentration is outside
the defined interval. Example: Alarm threshold is set to 40
ppm and hysteresis to 3 ppm. The alarm stays active until the
value falls under 37 ppm. This prevents relays from chattering
at an alarm threshold.
A fixed hysteresis of 5% of full scale is programmed.
12.3.2 Configuring alarms
Setting the alarm threshold
The lowest alarm threshold is one display unit of gas
depending on the configured sensor type.
1. Select A1 - set or A2 - set
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
2. Tap [OK] and set value for alarm threshold.
 The value flashes (data entry mode)
3. Confirm with [OK]
✓ The value is set and the instrument returns to the menu
Setting the alarm direction
Rising (ris)
The alarm direction is called rising, if the
gas concentration has to exceed a certain
value to activate an alarm.
Falling (FALL) The alarm direction is called falling, if the
gas concentration has to fall below a certain
value to activate an alarm.
1. Select A1 - ris / FALL or A2 - ris / FALL
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
2. Tap [OK]
 The value flashes (data entry mode)
3. Set the alarm direction.
► Select [UP] for falling (FALL)
► Select [DOWN] for rising (ris)
4. Confirm with [OK]
✓ The value is set and the instrument returns to the menu
Setting the alarm latching or non-latching
Latching (Lat)
Once the alarm level is reached, the instru-
ment will trigger the alarm. It will remain in
alarm status even if the gas concentration
does not meet the alarm condition any
more. To clear a latching alarm it has to be
acknowledged.
Non-Latching
The alarm status clears if the gas concen-
(nLat)
tration does not meet the alarm condition
anymore.

12.4 Testing alarms/relays
These functions change the status of a relay and LED for test
purposes (e.g. to check the function of alarm devices
connected to the relay). After exiting this function, the status
of the relay and LED will automatically return to their previous
status.
1. Select the desired alarm condition.
A1 - test
Simulates pre-alarm
A2 - test
Simulates main alarm
FAIL - test
Simulates fault signal
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
2. Tap [OK]
 The value flashes (data entry mode)
3. Set the test alarm.
► Tap [UP] to activate the test alarm (ON).
► Tap [DOWN] to deactivate the test alarm (OFF).
