Operating area and conditions
– Observe the specifications and restrictions in the
Instructions for Use and/ or data sheets for the sensors.
– When exposed to a directed flow of air mixed with gas, the
measured values can be increased. See the
corresponding sensor data sheet for deviation values.
– CAUTION Risk of ignition of flammable or explosive
atmospheres! Not tested in oxygen enriched atmospheres
(>21% O
).
2
– Using the product in areas subject to explosion
hazards: Instruments or components for use in explosion-
hazard areas which have been tested and approved
according to national, European or international Explosion
Protection Regulations may only be used under the
conditions specified in the approval and with consideration
of the relevant legal regulations.
– Hazardous areas classified by zones: The device is
intended to be used only in hazardous areas classified
Zone 1 or Zone 2, within a temperature range as marked
on the device, where gases of explosion Groups IIA, IIB or
IIC and temperature class T4 or T6 (depending on the
maximum ambient temperature) or dusts of Groups IIIA,
IIIB or IIIC may be present.
– Hazardous areas classified by divisions: The device is
intended to be used only in hazardous areas Class I or II,
Div. 1 or Div. 2, within a temperature range as marked on
the device, where gases or dusts of Groups A, B, C, D or
E, F, G and temperature class T4 or T6 (depending on the
maximum ambient temperature) may be present.
For SIL applications, the following configurations and tasks
are required.
– The settings for A1 and A2 relays must be identical.
– The relays must be operated normally energized
(energized on).
– For SIL conformity, both alarm relays are needed to trigger
an alarm device.
If the relay output NO (Normally Open) is used,
interconnect the relays in series.
If the relay output NC (Normally Closed) is used,
interconnect the relays in parallel.
– Test the relays and alarm indicators every 3 months.
– Observe the documentation of the relevant sensor (e. g.
PIR 7000 IfU).
1.3
Mechanical installation
– Strict compliance must be given to the local, state, national
codes and regulations that govern the installation of gas
monitoring equipment.
– The physical data of the gas or vapor to be detected and
the specifics of the application, (e.g. possible leaks, air
movement/draft, etc.) must be taken into account.
– The future use of accessories and maintenance
equipment must be kept in mind.
– The access of the gas or vapor to the sensor must not be
