ing your safety.
During transport and storage phases, make sure your PPE is hung away from heat
sources, humidity, corrosive atmosphere, ultraviolet rays, etc. and prevent your
PPE from being subjected to any impact or excessive vibration. See figures 13.
8 - CLEANING
Proper care of your PPE will ensure a longer life for the product, whilst also ensur-
ing your safety.
Be sure to adhere strictly to these guidelines:
• Clean with water and mild soap. Do not use any solvents, acids or bases under
any circumstances.
• Allow to dry naturally in a well ventilated area away from any open fire or other
heat source.
• For a more thorough cleaning, we recommend that you remove the rope lan-
yard (see paragraph 5-3). See figures
• When used in certain conditions the mechanism may get contaminated. In that
case, it is necessary to ensure that proper cleanup is frequent enough.
• In doing so, follow the instructions for suspension cable replacement (see
section 5-3).
• You can use compressed air to remove all foreign bodies that occur within
HandZup. Pay attention mainly to ensure that nothing prevents the rotation of
the cam and that the inner spring presses it correctly against the suspension
cable.
9 - LIFESPAN
The maximal life of PPE that is predominantly textile is evaluated as being 10
years after the date of manufacture. For our products which are mainly metal, we
do not give a lifespan; it can be unlimited if the product is checked regularly (an-
nually). However, the following factors can affect the performance of the product
and its lifespan: improper storage and/or misuse (ignoring the instructions of this
manual), mechanical deformation, contact with chemicals (acids, alkalis, solvents,
etc.) and exposure to high heat (> 60 ° C).
ARREST HARNESS
Arrest harness compliant with EN 361 and EN 358.
A fall arrest harness is the only body suspension device that can be used with a fall
arrest system.
We recommend that you check the following points:
• No early signs of damage to the webbing.
• No distortion of the metal «D" rings.
• Proper functioning of the fastenings.
• Integrity of the stitching.
• Good condition of the metal elements (no cracks, corrosion, etc.).
The attachment of the fall arrest system to the harness MUST be made SOLELY
by the back attaching element provided for the purpose ( "D" link or webbing at-
taching extension) or by chest anchorage points (webbing link or "D" link ).
ANCHORAGE POINTS
If possible, use with anchorage devices that conforme to the EN 795 standard or
with structural anchorage points. That is to say elements fixed to last, to a struc-
ture (wall, post...). Ensure in all cases that the anchorage:
• Is correctly positioned and the work is done in a way that minimises the risk of
