10.13 EPA setting

The abbreviation "EPA" stands for "End Point Adjustment", which means the adjustment of the end position.
EPA setting for the steering function:
This setting enables you to set the maximum permissible deflection for the steering servo to the left and right to pre-
vent it from blocking mechanically (and thus preventing it from damaging the gearbox). A separate adjustment of the
steering servo in both directions of rotation is possible.
EPA setting for the drive function:
In the case of an electronic speed controller, changing the EPA setting for the drive function limits the maximum
forward and reverse speed. A separate adjustment for the forward and reverse travel is possible.
For a combustion engine vehicle with a throttle servo, you can determine precisely the maximum permissible deflec-
tion in each direction to avoid mechanical blocking (and thus prevent damage to the gearbox). You can adjust the
directions of rotation of the throttle servo separately, which allows the full-throttle position to be set correctly. In addi-
tion, you can adjust the maximum braking force where the brake is operated via the throttle servo.
For example, you can use the EPA setting to limit the forward speed but leave the reverse speed un-
changed (unlike the dual-rate setting, which changes both speeds at the same time).
When changing the EPA setting, it may be necessary to readjust the drive function trim (see section 10.10).
In the case of an electronic speed controller, it may also be necessary to reconfigure the neutral and full
throttle positions on the speed controller.
To change the settings, follow the steps below:
First, disconnect the receiver from the voltage/power supply and switch off the model vehicle.

Switch off the transmitter.

Place the vehicle on a stable surface so that the wheels can turn freely.

Caution!
During the EPA setting, both the drive (wheels, axles, etc.) and steering are active and move at full speed.
Therefore, ensure the vehicle is securely fixed. Do not reach into the drive or moving parts. Do not hold
the vehicle by the wheels!
Push the throttle lever away from the handle as far as it will go (maximum reverse speed), hold down the "AUX1"

button (see section 10, no. 6) and turn on the transmitter.
The middle of the 5 LEDs flashes, and the EPA setting mode is active.

Now release the throttle lever and the "AUX1" button; the middle LED should continue to flash.

Now turn on the receiver or the model vehicle by switching on the speed controller or the receiver power supply.

The vehicle should now be ready for operation and respond to the transmitter control commands (left, right,

forward, reverse, neutral).
Moving the throttle lever to the "full throttle forward" position (pulling the throttle lever all the way to the handle)

causes the drive to run forward at full speed.
Use the "TH-TRIM" knob to change the EPA setting for "full throttle forward". The LEDs in-

dicate the current setting. The motor speed should change a little as you adjust the knob.
Releasing the throttle lever takes it to the neutral position.

For some electronic speed controllers, you should now briefly move the throttle lever to the

"full throttle reverse" position and then release it (neutral position). This is necessary for the
speed controller to enable reverse travel.
