Inserting the implant
Damage to vertebral body end
plates when the intervertebral
disk prosthesis is tapped in!
WARNING
►
►
Carefully, under X-ray control, insert the disk pros-
thesis into the intervertebral disk space. The supe-
rior prosthesis plate (plate with the spikes) must be
oriented cranially, the inferior prosthesis plate (the
plate with the fin) caudally.
►
If necessary impel the implant with light hammer
taps on the proximal end of insertion instrument 1.
Compression of the spinal
canal and of other posterior
elements caused by the inter-
WARNING
vertebral disk prosthesis
inserted too deeply!
►
►
►
If necessary, adjust the position of the depth stop
with the adjusting wheel 8, until the desired posi-
tion is reached.
►
If reduction is necessary, screw the repositioning
instrument 4 on the proximal end of the insertion
instrument 1 and carefully establish the desired
position of the implant using a slotted hammer.

Apply proper care when
tapping in the interverte-
bral disk prosthesis.
Prior to inserting the inter-
vertebral disk prosthesis,
adjust the depth stop to
minimum insertion depth.
Introduce the disk prosthe-
sis into the intervertebral
space under X-ray control.
Decoupling the implant
Note
To avoid damage to the implant, do not couple an inser-
tion instrument that already has been decoupled once.
►
Loosen clamping sleeve 7 on the insertion
instrument 1 by turning counterclockwise and
removing the insertion instrument 1.
►
If the clamping sleeve 7 is difficult to loosen, insert
key 3 in one of the lateral holes on the clamping
sleeve 7 to loosen the clamping sleeve 7.
►
On the intraoperative X-ray image, in AP and lat-
eral view, check the size, height and position of the
intervertebral disk implant.
Disassembling
►
Decouple the spacer 2 by pressing the button 9
"push to clean" on the handle of the insertion
instrument 1 and at the same time pulling it out
axially towards the working end of the insertion
instrument 1.
►
If necessary, unscrew repositioning instrument 4
from the insertion instrument by turning counter-
clockwise 1.
►
Before reprocessing, ensure that the clamping
sleeve 7 is sitting loosely on the instrument shaft.
