Operation

In this chapter the basic functions to control the vessel via the engine and the gears is described. The operation of
additional functions, like trolling or the synchronization for multiple-engine systems, are presented in the chapter "Special
functions".
5.1

Switch-on of the control

After the control has been switched on by means of the main switch, all control stations go into initializing state. In
initializing state no control station is active at first, the vessel cannot be controlled by any control station.
In initializing state
 the lamp COMMAND flashes at the respective control station. This indicates that the control station is ready to take
over the active command;
 an interrupted acoustic signal sounds. This as well indicates that the control station is ready to take over command;
 the operating indication is active at each control station, as far as there is no error, the alarm lamps are off.
If an error has occurred on the remote control, the alarm lamp will be activated. If a control station is defective, the
operating indication and, as far as provided, the scale lighting of the control head are off. Neither does the lamp
COMMAND flash at a defective control station nor does the buzzer beep, as at this control station a take-over of
command is impossible.
As long as the remote control is in initializing state, the engine cannot be started. The remote control does not yet
actuate engine speed and gear. Engine speed and gear remain in their present state.
After the remote control has been switched on, the next step must be the request of command at a control station. For
this, the button COMMAND is to be activated. If in case of multiple-engine systems there are several buttons COMMAND
at a control station, any of these buttons can be chosen.
At the control station where the button COMMAND has been activated, the lamp COMMAND flashes and the buzzer
continues to beep while the lamps COMMAND and the buzzers at all remaining control stations extinguish.
After the first activation of the button, two cases are to be distinguished:
 The lever of the control head is in neutral detent.
In this case the lamp flashes and the buzzer beeps in rapid sequence. This signals that a continuation of the control
station activation is possible.
 The lever of the control head is not in neutral detent.
In this case the lamp flashes and the buzzer beeps in slow sequence. This signals that the continuation of the
control station activation is not possible. The lever of the control head must be positioned in neutral detent first.

In case of propulsion systems with several engines the levers of all propulsion systems must be positioned in neutral
detent before the control station can be activated.
When all levers are in neutral detent, the button COMMAND must be pressed again before the control station is
activated. The buzzer extinguishes and the lamp COMMAND glows indicating the active control station. Only then, the
remote control gives the rpm target idling speed and the gears are shifted to neutral. The remote control unlocks the
engine's ignition so that the engine can be started.
