Control head 244

The control head type 244 (four button lever) differs
essential only in two points to the control heads
type 240/241.
 "Warming up" will be shown by the LED "WARM UP"
and not by a flashing light on LED "COMMAND"
 The control head type 244 has two separate buttons
"SYN" and "TRL" for the special functions
"Synchronization" and "Trolling" instead of one
button.

Control head 251

The control head 251 consists of two components. One component includes the
levers for the speed and for the gear settings, the other one comprises the
buttons and lamps.
In case of propulsion systems with one engine only one lever exists, in case of
twin-engine systems there are two.
The left lever acts on the portside engine and gear, whereas the right lever acts
on the starboard engine and gear.

In total, three detents exist for the lever movement:
 neutral:
nominal value for speed is idle, the gear is disengaged.
 detent ahead: nominal value for speed is idle, the gear is engaged in ahead.
 detent astern: nominal value for speed is idle, the gear is engaged in astern.
Between the detent ahead and the position full ahead or the detent astern and the position full astern only the engine
speed is adjusted from idle to nominal speed, the gear position does not change.
The component with buttons and lamps is identical to the buttons and lamps of the control heads 240/241 (cf. page 9,
chapter 4.1, Control head 240 / 241).
If the special function synchronization (cf. page 22, chapter 6.2) is activated, this lamp will
be lighted. If synchronization is in standby mode, the lamp will flash.
This lamp will be lighted when the special function trolling (cf. page 23, chapter 6.3) is
activated.
If an error occurs in one of the systems, these lamps will be lighted. If at the same time a
signal tone is issued by the buzzer integrated in the control head or an external alarm
system, there will be an alarm, i.e. the vessel can only be controlled in a limited way or
control is no longer possible at all. If no signal is issued, there will only be a disturbance of
the remote control, which, however, does not have any direct effect on the controllability of
the propulsion system.
In case of twin-engine propulsions the left alarm lamp indicates an error of the portside
system's remote control and the right lamp of the starboard system's remote control. In case
of propulsions with one engine both alarm lamps are lighted in case of an error
