Reading the safe inputs
The safe inputs are read safely on the I/O module and their status is transmitted safely to the
controller.
Setting the safe outputs
The safe outputs on the I/O module are safely turned off in accordance with the external by the
F-PLC and remained safely off until the F-PLC issues a contrary command.
Operational Safe State of the safe output function
Operation conditional turn-off of the safe outputs as required by the F-PLC.
The safe state is implemented by turning off the +24V potential on each output F-DO.

In addition to the operating conditional control of the safe outputs (see above) in case of a fault
(internal or external) both safe outputs are always safely turned off directly by the safe I/O
module.
Implementation of the safe state is by turning off both the +24V potentials on both F-DO safe
outputs as well as the common 0V ground potential (GND for actuator supply) on both safe
F-DO outputs.
Since there can be various causes for this state, the I/O module responds differently and must
be handled differently after the fault has been cleared (see Functional Safe State and Fail Safe
State).
