16.4.2 ROPING / BINDING
The figures 12-14 are showing various options for
roping up. The rope should either be fixed directly
through the binding ring using a figure of eight knot
(Fig. 12).
In the case of glacier ascents, the rope can be
bound with two counter-rotating locking carabiners
(Fig. 13). Connect a safety or rappelling system to
your binding ring using a locking carabiner (Fig.
14). Make sure that the locking carabiner is closed,
locked and loaded in the longitudinal axis. For
comfort, ABS advises against roping through hip
and leg loops.
