16.3 INSPECTION AND CONTROL
ABS Protection recommends a detailed and docu-
mented inspection by an appropriate specialist at least
every 12 months.
16.3.1 BEFORE EACH USE
Check the strap on the hip belt, leg loops and binding
ring. Check the QuickRelease buckle and safety seams.
Check for incisions, wear, swollen areas and other
damage caused by use, heat or contact with chemical
products. Ensure that no threads are loose or ripped.
Check that the QuickRelease buckle and QuickAdjust
buckles work properly. Check the degree of wear on the
leg strap connecting bar.
The strap should never be threaded out of the buckles.
If this does happen, the strap must be threaded back
into the buckle in accordance with the instructions of
use (see Fig. 3).

16.3.2 DURING USE
Regularly check that the QuickRelease buckle is
correctly fitted together and that the strap is tightened.
It is essential to regularly check the condition of the
product and its connections with other equipment in
the system. Always make sure that the individual items
of equipment in the system are correctly positioned
relative to each other.
16.3.3 USE IN SYSTEM
The hip belt of the high tour harness is also the hip
belt of the avalanche airbag backpack of the s.CAPE.
In addition, the leg loops of the belt replace the
previous crotch belt. ABS points out that it is necessary
to close the entire high tour harness to ensure that
the avalanche airbag backpack is not ripped from the
body in an avalanche. In addition, make sure that the
shoulder straps are adjusted tightly to ensure correct
positioning of the hip belt (Fig. 11).
