Your Avantgarde wheelchair has been provided with the CE sign. The manufacturer herewith guarantees that
this medical product as a whole conforms to the requirements of European Directive for Medical Products 93/
42/EEC.
The correct function of the wheelchair should be checked before every use. The checks listed in the following
table must be carried out by the user at the indicated intervals. Failure to carry out these simple checks may
lead to problems arising that could invalidate the warranty.
Check
Function test of the brake/wheel lock
Checking the screw connections
Sag of seat and back upholstery
Checking the setting of the caster journal bearing
Visual examination of wearing parts (e.g. tires, bearings)
Contamination on bearings
Air pressure (printed on the sidewall of the tire)
Checking the spoke tension of the rear wheels
Should any defects become apparent, please contact your authorized dealer to eliminate them.
We also recommend that you have the wheelchair serviced every three months by your Otto Bock approved
dealer.
To clean your wheelchair, use a mild detergent.
With little handicraft skill you will be able to service yourself some components of your wheelchair to ensure
smooth operation:
• Hair or dirt particles may accumulate between the caster wheel and fork making it difficult for the caster
wheels to rotate. Remove the caster wheel and thoroughly clean the fork and caster wheels using a mild deter-
gent.
• The rear wheels and caster wheels can be designed as a quick-release axle system. To keep this system op-
erational, be sure no dirt adheres to the quick-release axle or axle housing. Lightly lubricate the quick-release
axle regularly with resin-free sewing machine oil.
• If your wheelchair gets wet, towel dry it as soon as possible.
• Do not use your wheelchair in salt water, and keep sand or other particles from damaging the wheel bearings.
• Check the tightness of all screw connections regularly. If a screw connection continually comes loose, consult
your wheelchair supplier.

For the time being, Otto Bock has not yet released the product Avantgarde Teen 2 for use
as a seat in motor vehicles!
Until Otto Bock has released the Avantgarde Teen 2 for use as a seat for transportation
in motor vehicles, wheelchair users must always transfer to the seats installed in the
motor vehicle with the corresponding vehicle restraint systems! Non-observance of
these instructions could lead to injury of the wheelchair user, as well as of all other
passengers in the motor vehicle, in case of an accident.
