Engage your wheel locks when standing on uneven ground or during transfers (e.g. to a car).
The effectiveness of the wheel lock and the general driving ease are dependent on adequate air
pressure.
Correctly inflated rear wheels and equal air pressure in both wheels considerably improve the ma-
neuverability of your wheelchair.
Therefore, before starting your wheelchair, check the pneumatic tires for proper inflation levels.
The air pressure is printed on the side wall of the tire. For rear wheels, it should be at least 3.5 bar
(350 kPa). Efficiency of the wheel locks can be ensured only if sufficient air pressure and correct
adjustment (5 mm distance at the maximum, subject to technical alterations) have been provided.
Be sure the tires have sufficient tread depth.
Please note that when using your wheelchair in the public traffic, you must observe the traffic regula-
tions according to the vehicle regulations for your area.
Be sure you are visible in the darkness. If possible, wear light clothes or clothing with reflectors,
and be sure the reflectors installed at the side and the rear of the wheelchair are clearly visible. We
recommend attaching other lights as well.
For transfemoral amputees, an extended wheelbase is required.
When using lifting platforms, be sure the anti-tipper is outside the danger-area.
If the upholstery gets worn or damaged, replace it immediately.
Use caution near flammables or fire, especially when holding lit cigarettes. The seat and backrest
upholstery might catch fire.
To avoid hand injuries, do not grip between rear wheel and wheel lock when driving your wheelchair.
Your hands may become warm due to slowing down from high speed or on longer slopes. This is
especially true if the push rings are aluminum. When using your wheelchair outdoors, wear leather
gloves. Gloves provide you with a better grip and protect your fingers from dirt and hot metal.
The maximum load for the Avantgarde Teen 2 wheelchair for active use is 90 kg.
