7.3.4 Routing the cables
Trimming the Boa cable
At least one cable crossing is required to prevent excessive cable strain. Two cable crossings
may be used with a longer socket.
The following lengths are to be used for a cable crossing for size M:
Socket

length [in

Proximal
cable length
[in mm]
Distal cable
length [in
mm]
When two cable crossings are used, the distal Boa cable has to be cut off to a correspondingly
longer length compared to the specification in the table.
Complete the following steps to shorten the Boa cables:
► Cut off the Boa cables to the desired length using side cutting pliers.
INFORMATION: Make sure that the cable ends are cut off cleanly without fraying so
they are easy to thread into the cable guides and Boa reel.
Threading the Boa cables
15
Complete the following steps to thread the Boa cables:
1) Thread the distal Boa cable into the cable guides on the medial socket shell (see fig. 15,
orange cable guide).
2) Thread the proximal Boa cable into the medial socket shell, initially on one side.
3) Insert the lateral socket shell into the medial socket shell.
4) Thread the proximal Boa cable into the cable guide above the dial housing (see fig. 15, red
cable guide).
5) Thread the proximal Boa cable into the medial socket shell on the second side.
6) Thread the two ends of the two Boa cables through the corresponding openings into the dial
housings.
