2) With the callipers, measure the length between the pubic bone (os pubis) and the end of the
residual limb (see fig. 5).
INFORMATION: If there is flaccid soft tissue at the end of the residual limb, the resid­
ual limb end has to be formed into a hemisphere while measuring.
INFORMATION: While measuring, the upper body and thigh must be at an angle of
approx. 90° to each other.
INFORMATION: The residual limb has to be kept parallel to the other thigh (not
abducted).

Determination of flexion contracture
Complete the following steps to determine the flexion contracture:
1) Have the patient lie on his or her back.
2) Ask the patient to bend the sound leg.
→ The lumbar spine area has to lie flat on the supporting surface.
3) Determine the flexion contracture (angle) (see fig. 6).

7.2.2 Determining the socket size and socket length
The reference value for the required socket length is:
Required socket length = residual limb length
INFORMATION
For this product, the socket length is defined as the distance between the bottom of the socket
and the medial socket brim, measured in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the socket.
