INFORMATION
The parts to be modified have corresponding cutting marks and measurements on the
inside/reverse side. All parts always have to be shortened to the same measurement. Parts
always have to be shortened along the cutting marks provided.
Perform the following steps to shorten the socket components (medial side rail, lateral side rail,
medial socket shell, lateral socket shell):
1) Apply adhesive tape around the circumference of the socket shells at the level of the meas
ured residual limb length.
2) Transfer the cutting marks from the inside of the socket shells to the outside (onto the adhes
ive tape) (see fig. 7).
3) Extend the cutting marks along the entire circumference of the parts.
4) Use a hand saw, jigsaw or band saw to trim the socket components (see fig. 8).
INFORMATION: When using a jigsaw, select a low cutting speed to avoid melting the
plastic at the cut edge.
INFORMATION: When shortening the side rails with a hand saw, the clamping fixture
(e.g. a vice) is not permitted to put strain on the thinnest section (row of bores) on the
side rails, otherwise breakage of the side rails may result.
5) Round the edges and corners with a suitable tool.
6) Smooth the cut edges with the silicone sanding cone (see fig. 9).
CAUTION
Damage to the cable ducts and Boa housing
Falling due to breakage of load-bearing components or malfunction of the product.
Re-shaping additional product components other than the parts identified in this section is
not permitted (in particular, note the area of the cable guides and Boa housing).

The socket shells can be re-shaped with a hot air gun if needed.
The following areas can be re-shaped:
Lateral socket shell in the area between the Boa dials (to bring the lateral socket brim into
contact with the body) (see fig. 10)
Anterior section of the socket brim (increase the outward flare) (see fig. 11)
Medial and lateral socket shell with distal area directly next to the side rail guides (reduce
socket cross-section in the distal area)
Area of the socket brim pad (to optimise pressure distribution in this area)
