Place the electrodes far enough apart so that when the belt is
wrapped around the baby, the electrode will be located along
the mid-line of the side just below or lined up with the nipples.

Be sure the lead wires and patient cable are leading down and
away from the baby's face and neck (see illustration).

Step 6: Wrap the Electrode Belt around the Baby.

Wrap the belt around the baby's chest
and fasten it with the Velcro tab.
The belt should be snug enough so that
you can only insert two of your fingers
(with your hand lying flat against baby)
between the belt and the baby.
With newborns and very small babies, you may need to shorten the belt by cutting off a part of the end. Be sure to
leave enough room to fasten the belt securely.
