11. Allow a quantity of water equivalent to approx. 2 to 3 cups of espresso to run through the
machine.
12. Move the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position.
13. Move the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch to the "AUS" (OFF) posi-
tion.
14. Empty the espresso pot and then place it back under the espresso discharge opening.
15. Allow the water/descaling agent mixture to take effect for approx. 15 minutes.
16. Repeat steps 9 to 15 approx. 2 to 3 times.
17. The last time you do this, you should let the device run until the water/descaling agent
mixture has been used up.
18. Move the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position.
19. Move the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch to the "AUS" (OFF) posi-
tion.
20. Empty the espresso pot and then place it back under the discharge opening.
21. Then fill the water reservoir with clear tap water.
22. Move the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch to the "AN" (ON) posi-
tion. The first control lamp on the left will light up as soon as you have switched on the
preheating function.
23. Move the START/STOP switch to the "START" position as soon as the second control
lamp from the left lights up. Water will flow through the espresso discharge opening.
24. Allow one full reservoir of water to run through the espresso machine in order to flush
the lines.
25. Interrupt the flushing by moving the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position in
order to empty the espresso pot in between times.
26. Move the START/STOP switch to the "START" position to continue the flushing proc-
ess.
27. Move the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position as soon as the water reservoir is
empty.
28. Move the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch to the "AUS" (OFF) posi-
tion to switch off the device.

Descaling the Coffee Machine

Use a standard commercial descaling agent to descale the device. Follow the specifications
provided by the manufacturer of the descaling agent for details on the mixing ratio.
1. Mix the descaling agent in accordance with the specification on the packaging.
2. Pour the water/descaling agent mixture into the water reservoir.
3. Place the filter insert into the device. The filter insert must be inserted in such a way that
the discharge opening of the filter insert lies in the recess which is provided for it in the
filter compartment.
4. Insert the permanent filter (without any coffee powder).
5. Place the coffee pot on the hotplate beneath the discharge opening.
