Use

❐ Always check the device for damage before putting it into operation. If the device, cable or
plug shows visible signs of damage, the device must not be used. Do not use the device if it
has malfunctioned or been dropped.
❐ If the device, the mains cable or the plug is defective, do not attempt to repair the device
yourself. In the event of damage, please contact the manufacturer, its customer service
department (see the "Customer Service" chapter) or a specialist.
❐ Remove the mains plug from the mains socket
– if you are not going to use the device over a lengthy period of time,
– if a fault occurs during operation,
– before a thunderstorm,
– before you clean it.
❐ When you want to remove the mains plug from the socket, always pull the plug and not
the cable.
❐ Never immerse the device in water or other liquids. Ensure that the device, cable, or plug
do not fall into water or become wet. Should the device fall into water, switch off the
power supply immediately.
❐ Never touch the device, cable or plug with wet hands.
❐ Do not leave the device unattended when it is switched on.
❐ Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently.
❐ Only use fresh drinking water at room temperature to prepare coffee/espresso and to
froth up milk.
❐ Do not pour any liquids other than water into the water reservoir!
❐ Never place the glass pots on a hot stovetop.
❐ Do not use the device without water if you are preparing coffee or espresso.
❐ Never use the device if the glass pots are damaged. Only use the glass pots with this device.
❐ The glass pots are fragile; handle the glass pots with care.
❐ The prepared coffee/espresso/frothed milk is hot; be careful when handling hot liquids.
❐ Never pour water into the device when it is already switched on. In the worst case, you
could scald yourself on a sudden burst of steam.
❐ The hotplate can become very hot. Do not touch it or place objects on it.
❐ Use only the accessories supplied or accessories expressly recommended by the manufacturer.
❐ The hotplate does not switch off automatically after the end of the brewing procedure!
Always move the KAFFEE AN/AUS (COFFEE ON/OFF) switch to the "AUS" (OFF)
position in order to switch off the hotplate if it is not required.
❐ Do not leave the glass pots standing on a hotplate which is switched on if they are empty.
❐ Do not place any objects on the water reservoir and filter cover. Steam will escape
through the slots in the cover during use.
❐ Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam
could cause damage to them!
❐ Never fill the hot glass pots with ice cold water.
