8. Place the small espresso pot under the espresso discharge opening, onto the removable
water drip tray.
9. Move the MODE switch to the "ESPRESSO" position.
10. Move the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch to the "AN" (ON) posi-
tion. The first control lamp on the left will light up as soon as you have switched on the
preheating function.
11. Move the START/STOP switch to the "START" position as soon as the second control
lamp from the left lights up. Water will flow through the espresso discharge opening.
12. When the second control lamp from the left goes out, the preheating process has finished.
13. Move the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position.
14. Wait until no more liquid flows through the espresso discharge opening and dispose of the
hot water in the espresso pot.
15. Now follow the steps described in the "Preparing Espresso" section.

Preparing Espresso

1. Open the water reservoir and filter compartment cover and check whether there is
enough water in the water reservoir. Top up the water if necessary.
3. Close the water reservoir and filter compartment cover.

7. Turn the handle towards the closed lock symbol. Make sure
that the portafilter is secured in place.
2. Turn the steam power control as far as it will go clockwise to
ensure that the steam power control is turned off.
4. Release the preheated portafilter by turning the handle of the
portafilter to the left towards the open lock symbol.
