3. Connect the individual wires to the LS04 SW with the spring clips provided on the
rear of the VS.
a) Note the markings on the connection sockets:
– 12: solenoid 12
– 0: neutral
– 14: solenoid 14
b) Open the spring clamp by pressing and holding down the button (1) and insert
the stripped end of the cable into the clamp (2).
Release the button; the cable end is now secured in the clamp, and the
electrical connection is complete.
Connecting the neutral wire
For each valve sequence, only one neutral wire has to come into contact with
any of the valves. Any contact with additional plate valves occurs internally.
The internal electrical connection of the neutral wire can be interrupted after
removing a plate valve by breaking off the contact lug.
This interruption cannot be reversed!
Blanking plates and supply/separation plates interrupt the internal electrical
contact.
18
Interrupting the connection of the neutral wire
1. Remove the plate valve if it has already been installed.
2. Break off the contact lug (1) on the plate valve.
3. Reinstall the plate valve.

Commissioning and Operation

Uncontrolled actuator movements when the pneumatics are switched on
Danger of injury if the system is in an undefined state or the manual overrides are
set to the "Lock" position.
O Put the system in a defined state before switching it on.
O Set all manual overrides to the "Push" position (normal position).
O Make sure that no personnel are within the hazardous zone when the
compressed air supply is switched on.
Commissioning may only be carried out by qualified electrical or
pneumatic personnel or an instructed person under the direction and
supervision of qualified personnel (also see separate sheet "Notes on
Safety" (R412015575), section "Personnel qualifications").
Step-by-step commissioning
Before commissioning the entire system, check each of the individual functions step-
by-step.
1. Check all screws and connections.
2. Check the valves for correct assignment of the control signals.
3. Check the pneumatic functions using the manual override.
4. Only commission the entire system after following the preceding steps.
Step 1: Check screws and connections
O Check all screws and connections for a secure fit and seal before commissioning
the system.
19
Step 2:
Check assignment of the control signals
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Turn all manual overrides to the Push position (normal position) (see "Operating
the manual override").
3. Switch on the operating voltage.
4. Check the assignment of the control signals to the valve positions.
The yellow LED (1) is illuminated if the valve is being properly actuated.
O If the LED is not illuminated, check the assignment of the control signal and valve
position.
Step 3: Check the pneumatic functions
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.

2. Turn all manual overrides to the Push position (normal position) (see "Operating
the manual override").
3. Make sure that all actuators are in their home positions and that there is no
danger from moving actuators.
CAUTION:
Before applying compressed air to the system, check the stability of the
compressed air connections and make sure that no personnel are within the
hazardous zone when the compressed air supply is switched on!
Before switching the system on, ensure that it is in a defined state!
4. Apply the compressed air to the system.
5. Check all of the connected valves using the manual override (see "Operating the
manual override").
Step 4: Switch on the system
1. Switch on the compressed air supply.
2. Switch on the operating voltage.
Operating the manual override
The valve control's function and method of operation can be checked before
commissioning by activating the valve settings using the manual override instead of
the electrical signal. The electrical signal is disabled when the manual override is
used.
The manual override has 2 positions. Each solenoid is actuated with its own manual
override.
With 2x3/2-way valves, both solenoids can be activated simultaneously.
Manual override damage due to improper operation
The manual override will be damaged if it is operated improperly or with
excessive force.
O Exercise care and caution when actuating the manual override.
O Observe the following information for operation.
Manual override variant
W
Manual override with yellow control button: with detent
W
Manual override with red control button: self-resetting
19A
Operating the yellow control button
Press, turn with detent
1. Insert a screwdriver in the manual override's slot and gently press the control
button down all the way.
2. Hold down the control button and turn it from the Push position (normal position)
to the Lock position with the screwdriver until it engages with a slight click.
The valves switch.
3. Turn the control button back to the Push position (normal position).
4. Release the control button.
Once released, the control button will return to the
position) and the valve will return to the zero position.
19B
Operating the red control button
Press without detent
1. Using a rounded object, slightly press down on the control button all the way and
hold it in this position. The valves switch.
2. Release the control button.
Once released, the control button will return to the Push position (normal
position) and the valve will return to the zero position.
Commissioning and Operation
Damage to the valve housing caused by SO
Environments with high concentrations of SO
housing.
O Before using these systems in environments with high concentrations of SO
be sure to contact your nearest AVENTICS sales office.

Service and Repairs

Applied voltage and high pressure!
Danger of injury from electric shocks and sudden pressure drops.
O Make sure the system is not under pressure or voltage before carrying out any
service and maintenance work.
