Connecting the pneumatics

Overpressure caused by closed exhaust outlets
Closed exhaust outlets will lead to air congestion and valve damage.
O Never close port R/82/84.
O Ensure that ports 3, 5, and R provide sufficient exhaust.
General instructions
O Fit exhaust air connections that are not connected to an exhaust air line with a
silencer as needed.
O Provide unused connections with blanking plugs.
O For safety reasons, we recommend using tubing and accessories from the online
catalog for the push-in fittings. (Only use the TU1-F tubing with stiffener sleeve.)
O Ensure that enough free space is left for the pneumatic tubing so that the
permitted minimum bending radii are adhered to.

1) The exhaust outputs 3 and 5 are combined into one exhaust output (3/5).
Connecting the supply lines
O Connect the supply lines to push-in fittings 1 (compressed air supply), 3 and 5
(valve exhaust) on the left end plate or a supply plate (see the IP50 variant).
Use an additional supply plate if there is a greater need for supply and
exhaust air and connect the compressed air and exhaust air lines in parallel
there and on the left end plate.
O If a supply plate is available, connect the compressed air and exhaust air
lines to it.
Connecting the pilot air
O Connect the pilot air at push-in fitting X on the right end plate.
Connecting the pilot exhaust air
O Connect the exhaust pilot valves at push-in fitting R/82/84 on the right end plate.

Electrical connections

Dangerous voltage
Danger to life due to short circuits and electric shocks caused by unsafe power
supply isolations, improper grounding, and insufficient external fuse protection
for the solenoid control.
O Only provide a 24 V DC voltage supply with safe isolation via a power pack in
accordance with EN 61558.
O Always connect the GND pin when wiring.
O Protect the solenoid control with an external fuse.
High current load
Current loads over 1 A per connector pin will damage the system.
O Do not exceed the permissible current load of 1 A per connector pin.
LS04 electrical connection
1. Make sure the relevant system part is not under pressure or voltage before
starting connection work.
2. Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical connections so that the
minimum permissible bending radii of the lines are adhered to.

3. Finish off the preassembled cable with a D-Sub mating plug and connect it to the
electrical control system.
Tip: Use preassembled cables with suitable D-Sub mating plugs (see "Spare
Parts and Accessories").
4. Insert the D-Sub mating plug into the D-Sub connection and screw it down.
IP50 protection is only ensured with a correctly fitted D-Sub mating plug
with a protective housing.
Pin assignments of the D-Sub connection
The pin assignments depend on the configuration of the LS04.
A total of 10 different connection variants (see "Cable loop variants for the LS04")
with different connection plug fittings are available.
Additional information on correct pin assignments is available in the delivery
contents of the VS or at www.aventics.com.

General instructions
W
The cable loops are all designed so that the maximum number of 24 valves that
can be controlled is not exceeded.
W
In configurations with up to 12 valve positions, the cable loop is only equipped
with plugs for double solenoid valves.
W
For configurations with more than 12 valve positions, the cable loop is designed
so that the maximum number of plugs is available for double solenoid valves.
W
Plate valves for single solenoid valves can also be mounted on slots for double
solenoid valves. In doing so, one pin for the assigned slot remains unused. This
has to be taken into account when connecting the control electronics system.
W
The slots for single solenoid valves are indicated by a symbol on the cable
channel.
W
For pin assignments deviating from this standard, please contact your nearest
AVENTICS sales office.
Pin assignments of the plate valves for double solenoid valves
Two controls (connector pins) are permanently assigned to solenoid coils 12 and 14
for each valve position.
W
Only solenoid 14 must be connected in 5/2-way valves (single solenoid). The
second control for solenoid 12 remains unused.
W
There are the following assignments for 2x3/2-way valves and double solenoid
directional control valves:
– Solenoid 14 and pneumatic connection 4.
– Solenoid 12 and pneumatic connection 2.
Pin assignments of the plate valves for single solenoid valves
One control (connector pin) is permanently assigned to solenoid coil 14 for each
valve position.

LS04 SW electrical connection
O Take precautions against overvoltages with lines longer than 30 m.
1. Make sure the relevant system part is not under pressure or voltage before
starting connection work.
2. Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical connections so that the
minimum permissible bending radii of the lines are adhered to.
Use the following table to select an appropriate cable and strip the insulation
from its end.
