The FDC 9229-B is an MOS integrated circuit dasigned 1o
complement either the 179X or 765 (8272) lype of floppy
disk Controller Chip. It incorporatesa digital data Separator,
write precompensation logic. and a head-load limer in one
0.3-inch wide 20-pin package. A Single pin will contigure
Ihe chip to work with either the 179X or 765 type of controt-
ler. The FDC 9229' B provides a number ot different dy nam-
ically selscted precompensation valueg so that different
values may be used when writing to the inner and outer Iracks
of tha floppy disk drive. The FDC 9229'B operates from a
t- 5V supply and simply requires lhat a 16 or 8 MHz crystal
or TTL-Ievel dock be connected to Ihe XTAL'CLKIN pin. All
inpuls and Outputs are TTL compatible.
TheFDC9229isavaitablein two versions.the FDC 9229
which is intended for 51/*'disks and the FDC 9229B lor 5U1
and 8* disks.
