Operation and Control
7.1. Safety
WARNING – Risk of burns
The machine must never be used without the print bed tape covering the
print bed. Risk of burns! In case of burns consult a doctor immediately!
WARNING – Risk of burns
Danger due to hot surface. Avoid contact with hot surfaces, liquids and gases.
The device may only be operated when fully assembled. If this is not the case, the
safety of personnel and machinery cannot be guaranteed and the operational li-
cense shall be invalidated.
Only print on a free print bed. Printing on objects is not permitted and can result
in damage to the machine as well as fire hazards!
Danger of stumbling due to cables, floor irregularities or parts lying around. Clean
up the work space aft er every use.
7.2. Preparing the Printer
Setting the Extruder Z Off sets
Important! For setting the correct distance between nozzles and bed, first
calibrate the height for T0 – direct hotend – and aft erwards for T1 – indirect
hotend. Never do it the other way around!
1. Turn on the main switch (S) and start the printer.
2. Go to the Temperature Menu.
a. Preheat the print bed to 60° C. For better leveling results,
wait 30 minutes aft er the bed reaches 60° C.
b. Heat extruders T0 and T1 to the material temperature you
would like to print with.
3. Go to the Advanced Menu and set the Z off sets of T0 and T1 to 0.1 mm.
4. Open the Control Menu in the interface, select Home All.
5. Start a test-print for T0 and check if the distance between nozzle and bed is
correct. You can use the z calibration G-code available on the BigRep Support
Center [support.bigrep.com].
6. If the nozzle is too far or too close, without stopping the print, increase or
decrease the T0 Z-off set-value on the Advanced Menu (see Fig. 7-1), to correct
the position of the extruder.
