c) Slip Clutch

The slip clutch (1) under the transparent cover protects the
drive gears from overstressing during takeoff e.g. on
particularly high-grip surfaces.
When operating with the in-built standard motor, no
adjustment of the settings is necessary as this has
already been carried out by the manufacturer.
A professional model sport operator can, however,
adjust the slip clutch to a racing motor.
Once you have removed the cover (3) the hex-nut that you
can see underneath (2) can be adjusted.
Turning the nut clockwise places more drive stress on the
drive gears, turning the nut anti-clockwise reduces the stress
transfer (increases slip).
Replace the cover (3) once the settings have been adjusted.
If the clutch is set too tight, the traction will be fully transmitted to the drive gears, the slip clutch is
basically not functioning at all.
If the slip clutch is preset too "soft", this causes the clutch to wear rapidly. In addition, acceleration is
very bad or the vehicle does not move at all (spinning of slip clutch).
The correct setting has been made when the motor can just still turn even though the vehicle and both
rear wheels are held tight. At exactly this setting position, you can now make adjustments to the drive
performance by adjusting the hex-nut (at most 1/4 turns).
