9. Use personal protective equipment.

Wear eye protection.
-
Wear a respirator or dust mask if the operation will generate a great deal of dust.

Wear ear protection.

Wear protective gloves when handling saw blades and sharp objects. Always keep
and carry loose saw blades in a protective cover such as their original packaging.
10. Connect a dust extraction device.

If the power tool has connections for dust extraction, make sure that the dust
extraction equipment is connected and used properly.
11. Make sure that the power supply cable is not damaged.

Do not pull or tug the mains lead when unplugging the power tool, grip and pull
the plug itself. Keep the mains lead away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
12. Secure the workpiece.

If possible, use a clamp or vice to hold the workpiece in place. This is much
safer than holding the workpiece with your hand.
13. Do not overreach.

Maintain secure footing with both feet on the ground and stay well-balanced at
all times.
14. Take care of your tools.

Keep all cutting tools sharp and clean to ensure optimum performance and
work safety.

Follow the instructions regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories.

Check the mains lead of the power tool regularly. If the mains lead is damaged
in any way it must be replaced by a qualified electrician.

Inspect any extension leads regularly. Replace cables if they are damaged in any way.

Keep the handles dry, clean and free of oil and grease.
15. Always disconnect the power tool from the mains.

Disconnect the power tool from the mains whenever it is not in use, before
service and maintenance and whenever replacing accessories such as saw
blades and drill bits.
16. Remove tools and keys.

Make a habit of checking that all adjusting tools and keys have been removed
from the power tool before it is switched on.
17. Avoid unintentional starting.

Make sure that the power switch is set to OFF before connecting the power
tool to the mains.
18. Use the right kind of extension lead.
-
If you use the power tool outdoors, only use extension cables which are clearly
labelled as designed for outdoor use.
19. Remain attentive.
-
Pay attention to what you are doing. Use your common sense and never ope-
rate the power tool when tired, sick or under the influence of medicine, alcohol
or narcotics.
