8. Assembling the model

Before you commence assembly, please read through each individual section. For better understanding, an illustration has been included which
represents the section of assembly described.
Please note that the numbers in the text always refer to the components in the illustration on the right.
Only carry out the works on the sections concerned when you have understood execution correctly and know exactly what you have to observe
when working.

a) Attaching the elevator to the fuselage

Slide the elevator assembly angles (1) and then the elevator (2) sideways into
the opening in the fuselage (3) and place it in the center of the fuselage. Insert
the wing rod (4) into the guide tube on the fuselage (5) and stick both wings
onto the fuselage. Measure the exact position of the elevator unit to the rudder
unit and to the wing.
Important: The accuracy of this work has a significant impact on the flight
properties.
Once everything is measured perfectly, mark the exact position of the elevator
unit with a pen on the outside of the fuselage. Then pull the elevator unit out of
the fuselage again and carefully remove the iron-on foil within the marking with
a cutter.
Now you can attach the elevator unit with 5-minute epoxy resin permanently to
the fuselage. Align the unit again on the fuselage as shown in the images.
Make sure that the elevator assembly angle is installed and freely movable.
b) Mounting the elevator flaps
Attach three rudder hinges (1) each on the elevator flaps (left and right) with
instant glue. Then position the elevator attachment angle (2) in the center.
Measure the exact position of the elevator attachment angles (3) for the elevator
flaps and drill the corresponding holes in this spot with a 2 mm drill bit.
First, attach the elevator flaps "dry" to the tail unit and check the correct fit and
movability. Then you can glue together the flaps with the elevator attachment
angles and the rudder hinges using instant glue.
Attention!
The borings of the elevator attachment angles must be absolutely
centred and straight so that both elevator flaps are exactly paral-
lel later on and also to ensure that the elevator rudder deflections
are absolutely equal.
Also make sure to position the borings in such a way that there is
a little gap on the outside between the tail unit and the flap after
installing the elevator flaps on the tail unit, which allows the flaps
to move freely.
