Pump swap switch-over: As for setpoint switch-over.
Setpoint settings in menu 3.05/3.06
Alternatively, the pump swap can also be determined by the "running
time optimization" menu setting (2.25). Here a pump swap occurs at
the next start-up if a pump remains more than 24 hrs behind another
pump in the running time.
4.1.6 Motor protection
– Excessive temperature protection
WSK (Winding Protection Contact) / SSM (built-in full motor protec-
tion). Motors of the Wilo wet-runner series signalizes excessive
winding temperatures by the WPC to the control system. A bimetal
relay opens in response to an excessive temperature, and closes if
the excessive temperature drops again, i.e. the experienced fault
can be acknowledged at the control system. Wet-runner circulating
pumps of the TOP series have the SSM.
PTC, (Positive temperature coefficient) motors of the Wilo dry-runner
series are protected from 11 kW against excessive winding tempera-
ture by a resistor whose resistance rises steeply in the critical
temperature range and is used as a variable for a tripping unit. The
fault must be cancelled on the control system.
– Overcurrent protection
ESA (Electronic Overcurrent Release, instantaneous tripping) for
motors from 1.1 to 4 kW. Built-in component of the switching
device. It detects the motor current of two phases and processes
the mean value. The tripping current must be set. The fault must be
reversed.
TSA (Thermocurrent Tripping Unit) for motors from 5.5 to 30 kW.
The switch is built into the control unit. It detects the motor current
of all 3 phases. The tripping current must be set. At the TSA element
the operator can switch to self-acknowledgement "active" or reverse
the fault "inactive".
All protective motor devices protect the motor in control operation with
the FC or the mains.
In emergency operation no protection exists for the

motors. There will be no switching off in the event of
fault occurence.

4.2 Operating the controller
4.2.1 Operator's panel (figure 2)
– Main switch On/Off
– The LCD field (pos. 1), 4-lines each with 16 characters displays the
operating states of the pumps, the controller and the frequency
convertor. In addition, all installation parameters can be set via the
display. The lighting of the LCD field goes out in each case one
minute after the last operation.
Main menu selection, menu level I and sub-menu selection,
menu level II (pos. 2), pressing one of the arrows allows you to
"leaf" through the individual menus, forwards with the bottom
arrow, backwards with the top one. The main menus are
identified by the whole number in the top left of the LCD field,
and the sub-menus by a sub-item (e.g. 1.01).
Holding the key down "leafs" quickly through the menu points of
the menu level I or II.
Opening a sub-menu and confirm key (pos. 4), the O.K. key
(Return) allows you to access the first sub-menu, menu level II.
The parameters enclosed in >....< are to be changed as follows:
by pressing again on O.K., or parameter setting (pos. 3) the
>....< symbols are replaced by the flashing bars ❚....❚, menu
level III, i.e. the parameters can then be changed with the
Parameter setting (pos. 3) (value Up/Down). If the desired
parameter is set on the LCD, it can be confirmed with the O.K.
key. At the same time ❚....❚ change to >....<.
Green operating light (pos. 5) displays the availability of the
installation. It also lights up if no pumps are running.
Red fault light (pos. 6).
Fault acknowledgement (pos. 7). Apart from the Fault
acknowledgement function this key can also be used as follows:
– By short pressing the key, the menu level II can be leave.
– If a value in the change menu is activated, the change can be
interrupted with this key.
– Longer pressing the key takes you from any menu point to the
standard display (installation status) and longer pressing it
again returns you to the menu you have just left, provided no
other key was pressed in between.
