5.3
CYLINDER REPLACEMENT (fig. B, C and H)
Be sure that no dirt etc. gets into the hydraulic system when the hydraulic components are dismantled and assembled.
5.3.1

Removing cylinder

-
Raise the lift for approx. 250 mm and lower it into the safety catches. Remove nuts and washer (B.43, B.44 and B45).
The cylinder rod has two flat surfaces for a spanner to prevent rotation. Fit a sling around the cylinder and pull it tight
with a hoist or a forklift truck.
-
Disconnect the hydraulic hose (B.22) from the cylinder.
-
Loosen the set screw (H.8) and remove the round nut (H.3) from the cylinder. Lower the cylinder slowly from the top
plate (B.7) to the lowest position.
-
Replace nut (H.3) and seal the oil pipe (B.21) with an adapter nut and ball.
-
Lift the complete cylinder with retracted rod out of the guide block.
5.3.2

Installing cylinder

-
Extend piston shaft about 150 mm and seal off top of the oil pipe.
-
Lower cylinder into guide block with the rod through the hole in the bottom of the guide block (take care of damage).
-
Mount washer and nuts (B.44, B45 and B.43). (Torque between B43 and B45 270 Nm)
-
Remove seal on oil pipe and remove the round nut (H.3) from the cylinder.
-
Lift the cylinder through the top plate and install the round nut (H.3) and tighten the set screw (H.8)
-
Connect hydraulic hose (B.22)
-
The cylinder is now partly filled with air and will therefore not immediately raise. Slightly raise the cylinder by
operating MS and M"columnnr" of the corresponding column inside the control box.
-
Release air according to §4.3.3.

EMERGENCY FEATURES (IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE)
In emergency situations when it is impossible to lower the vehicle lift from the control box(es) the lift can be lowered
manually. Manual lowering should only be done by a mechanic from the service department.
Disconnect locking mechanism, also see fig. I:
-
Remove the cable channels (I.16&I.17) on all columns.
-
Release the core of the solenoid by moving the protruding stud outwards with a screwdriver (away from the column).
-
Fill the space between the nyloc nut and the back of the solenoid with a distance piece of 5 mm thick (e.g. a Ty-wrap).
-
Repeat for the other columns. All solenoids are now released and the locking mechanism is no longer operational.
Manual Lowering
To lower the lift manually two ladders are needed for access to the hydraulic units, and two persons for operating the units
(one mechanic from the service department, one on-site assistant).
-
Make sure that the wheels of the vehicle are blocked.
-
Use a pipe wrench to turn the lowering valve of column III and IV anticlockwise until the vehicle lift slightly lowers
and then slightly tighten it until lowering stops.
-
Both persons now simultaneously loosen the lowering valve of column III and IV, so that the tracks slowly lower. The
assistant then stops turning (tighten only when the service department mechanic requests this).
-
By further opening or closing the lowering valve the service department mechanic can now adjust the height of the
track to equal the height of the track on the other side
.
-
The valves are to be closed when column III and IV have lowered for approx. 100 mm.
-
Follow the same procedure for column I and II until they are 100 mm lower than column III and IV.
-
Repeat complete procedure til the lowest position is reached.
-
In the lowest position tighten the lowering valves and ensure that the locking system is made operational again.
